If you visit Cornerstone PCA, we understand that you will be entering from a unique vantage point as a result of the story you have lived. Some of you may join us in desperation. You may be weathering one of life's tumultuous storms and are willing to try anything for relief... even church. Some of you may be historically religious and this is the next stop on the train. Some of you may have just moved to the area and are familiar with the PCA or gospel-driven reformed theology. Some of you may not know why you are even on this web site, let alone why you would visit. For all of you, we welcome you and trust that if God has you join us - it will because he has pursued you, not because you are pursuing us!
What will it be like if you come?
We are a casual church. Expect to find people dressed in all attires... from jeans to dresses to flip flops.
We are a community. Expect to find people in conversation before, often during, and after the service (over good coffee and bagels).
We are a child-loving church. Expect... no, plan to be among lots of joyous children! Expect to have your children taught by trustworthy caretakers who long not only to teach your children about God and his gospel, but to love them as the hands and feet of Christ! We are (hopefully) a relevant church. Expect to hear Christ-exalting messages that are intentionally linked to the every day affairs of corporate life, or parenting, or addictions, or conflict or whatever... We'll let you be the judge, should you visit.
We are a Scripture-loving church. Our messages are expositional, as we preach through books of the Bible to 'expose' you to the Word of God as it has been revealed to us in its context. We trust in the authority of Scripture in all things related to faith and life.
We are a celebrating church. Expect to find a people who love to worship God out of our restored-brokenness. The service will include a spectrum of modern (indigenous) and historic music tunes that - most importantly - hold lyrics that we believe are biblical and reinforce the Bible text we are studying as a church.
We are an authentic church. Expect to be confronted with an awareness of the sin and pain and brokenness in your life... as we weekly confess that "we are worse sinners than we ever dared imagine... but we are more loved and forgiven in Christ than we ever dared believe!"
We are an understanding church. Expect a pastoral staff and elders who understand that NO ONE has ever been called by God in the exact same way as another. God calls people in as many unknown ways as the winds blow. Thus, we know that some of you will need time to check this 'God stuff' out - we want to provide that time without any pressure. Some of you will have questions or issues or pain that you want us to try and address immediately - we stand ready and willing, trusting in God to make us able in your time. Some of you have historic 'church wounds' that we may never be able to understand - that's OK, we promise not to be unempathetic 'problem-fixers.'
Finally, we are a surprised church. We believe God is at work in the Lehigh Valley - mending brokenness and changing people's lives for eternity through the story of his gospel! The manifestation of the kingdom of Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit never ceases to surprise us. So - if you would join us and God engages your heart through his Word... the way in which He transforms your life may be the surprise about which we cannot inform you!
